Newport Road street party 2015
Saturday 6 June 2015 – we’re back again, with another excellent street party for the Big Lunch weekend! The weather was fine, and about 150 people came again for an afternoon of fun. The famous ‘hook a duck’ game was back, and another fiendish quiz, this year courtesy of Rod – with prizes provided by the Standard Tandoori. Many thanks to all the volunteers who helped and the residents of Newport Road for hosting. And special thanks to the Moderation for the delicious curry, and to Chris for stepping in at the last moment and cooking an excellent barbecue (and Jonathan for assisting)!
- The bunting’s flying, Newport Road’s closed…
- …and the tables are ready to set up.
- The free curry from the Moderation is going down really well…
- …as is the face painting.
- Here’s Steve with the Bell Tower stall, where we recruited a few new members.
- The legendary hook a duck game was back as usual…
- …and everybody enjoys playing with a sand pit!
- We cooked our own barbecue food this year, and chef Chris was certainly kept busy.
- Rod’s fiendish quiz was back as usual…
- …but where were the street cricket and football? And can you really use a sledge in June? Oh yes you can!
- This year was also the year of the scooter and the skateboard.
- Another afternoon of great family fun – looking forward to next year already!
