Newport Road Diamond Jubilee street party
On Saturday 2 June 2012 we held our biggest and best event yet! 200 locals came along to our big street party in Newport Road to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. We all had a stunning afternoon – and many thanks to Andy and the staff of the Moderation, New Hope for use of their furniture and facilities, the Standard Tandoori for bringing food, the volunteers who helped set the party up and Mel, Nicola and Sarah of Newport Road for their enthusiasm and help in organising the event.
- Take one street, empty it and add some bunting…
- …a load of tables…
- …the barbecue from the Moderation…
- …and plenty of people, of all ages…
- …and you’ve got a street party!
- Plenty of revellers having a great afternoon…
- …and testing their general knowledge in the fiendish Jubilee quiz.
- The crown making competition attracted lots of beautifully made entries…
- …and the great bake-off produced some delicious cakes…
- …which we all rushed to try, of course!
- Finally, the egg and spoon race (what else?), first for the kids…
- …then the adults (where exactly are these folks going?) A great afternoon all round!
